This LP was Tim Curry's second album, and is widely considered to be the best of his three albums as a solo artist (1978's Read My Lips and 1981's Simplicity were the other two). "I Do The Rock" actually reached #91 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1979 (Tim Curry's one and only 'hit' single). Both "I Do The Rock" and "Paradise Garage" (a popular song in its own right) had videos made for MTV airplay that were also commonly played before midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. So this album certainly represents the peak of his solo musical career.
Unlike Tim Curry's other albums, almost all of the songs on "Fearless" are original with Tim Curry himself writing most of the lyrics. The only remake on this album is "Cold Blue Steel And Sweet Fire", originally by Joni Mitchell. The songs "I Do The Rock", "S.O.S.", "Cold Blue Steel And Sweet Fire", "Paradise Garage", "No Love On The Street", and "Charge It" were all re-released on CD format in 1989 as part of the Best Of Tim Curry CD. Other tracks from this album ("Right On The Money", "Hide This Face", and "Something Short Of Paradise") have never been reissued.

Hide This Face (1979-12-13) - 2 minutes 18 seconds (320x240, 25 fps, 5.4 MB). Tim Curry performs live on the West German "Der Musikladen" (The Music Shop) television program. Here he performs "Hide This Face", in support of his Fearless LP. Originally aired on December 13th, 1979.
I Do The Rock - 4 minutes 21 seconds (320x240, 30 fps, 10.3 MB). Tim Curry's I Do The Rock (it's stimulating!) is certainly the best known song of his relatively short career as a solo artist, from the 1979 Fearless album. This music video was made for MTV, but was often played before midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well.
I Do The Rock (1979-12-13) - 4 minutes 34 seconds (320x240, 25 fps, 10.7 MB). Tim Curry performs live on the West German "Der Musikladen" (The Music Shop) television program. Here he performs his hit single (relatively speaking) "I Do The Rock", in support of his Fearless LP. Originally aired on December 13th, 1979.
Paradise Garage - 3 minutes 59 seconds (320x240, 30 fps, 9.5 MB). Tim Curry's Paradise Garage is a fairly well known song from his rather short career as a solo artist. Only I Do The Rock, also from the 1979 Fearless album, was more popular as a single. This music video was made for MTV, but was often played before midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well. |
