This 12" vinyl single includes three different mixes of Sweet Transvestite by Anthony Head, along with The Time Warp by the 1990 London Cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He released four total versions of Sweet Transvestite in 1991 on various formats (including compact disc, 7" vinyl, and a shaped picture disc). The 12" single does not include the original 7" version of the song.
Anthony Head performed as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the Rocky Horror Show production at the Picadilly Theatre in London's West End, taking over for Tim McInnerny (the Frank featured on the actual cast album). Anthony Head proved to be an exceedingly popular performer there, and reprised the role for a six week stint at Duke of Yorks Theatre in 1995. He also made appearances as Frank-N-Furter on VH1's Rocky Horror Celebrity Karaoke in 2000, and at the Royal Court Theatre's Rocky Horror Tribute Show in 2006. Outside of Rocky Horror circles Anthony Stewart Head is primarily known as Rupert Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a role he played for the entirety of the show's seven season run from 1997 to 2003. Prior to that he was well known in the UK from a series of twelve coffee commercials for Nescafé Gold Blend that aired between 1987 and 1993, where he appeared with Sharon Maughan in a soap opera like series of romantic encounters. In the US, the commercials were for Taster's Choice and had thirteen installments airing from 1990 to 1997. He's frequently credited with his middle name as Anthony Stewart Head in the US, apparently to avoid a name conflict with another actor.
