The RH collector community has grown so small these days. This is my favorite place as I jsut don't find the total geek out about collectables i so desire on any other RH socail media scene. PLease tell em about all fo your favortie recordings/collectables! Tell me something I dont know!

That is all.

Thank You

I agree. I would love a new cast recording right about now...The last thing I picked up was the Polyphonic Spree recording and it was ok, but not terribly unique. The Misfit's new release with SFDF is pretty cool. Oh yeah when did everyone find that video of High Fidelity? I just now came across that like a week ago...feel like I'm out of the loop.

SOmone posted that video to FB a couple of months back. It is a pretty amazing fid.

Yeah, wasnt thrilled with the Polyphonic Spree recording either. Musically is was pretty good but the vocal left something to be desired.

What about the Japanese cast. thoughts?

I wasnt aware of the Misfits cover of SFDF. I am always so behind when it comes to these covers. Half the time I find out they exist after the release they are on is out of print. Still havents picked up the Joan Jett album with SFDF on it. I am missing lots of the little independent covers from the past 10 or 15 years or so.

However, after years of searching, I just recently, finally, obtained the Timbireche 7" single of Balie De Sapo.

That was an amazing find. Honestly I prefer finding cool stuff like that compared to the endless new covers that continually come out. I still need to add the Joan Jett and Misfits releases to my collection as well...I have found torrents of both of them, so I have heard them but I prefer the actual cd/vinyl when possible. Here is a link to the misfits cd on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Misfits-Dea-D-A ... 1e7705accb For years I had about a minute and a half of them doing the song live but it was horrible quality. So it is pretty cool that they finally released it.

I did enjoy the Japanese cast, but it sounded a bit too much like the movie for my taste. The newer Icelandic; however, I really enjoyed.

Very cool about the Timberiche single. I think I have a cd single of them somewhere.

agreed! Im not really impressed with any of the cast recordings that have been released in the last 10 years or so. thyeve all been kinda blah. I seem to mostly enjoy the stuff done in the 70's, with a few of the 90's recordingd being exceptional as well.

I haven't bothered with the Polyphonic Spree one, it looks lame.
The Japanese was has its moments but is nothing special; the Columbia is a riot though. Icelandic was better, overall... The last cast album I was truely impressed by was the '01 Peru.
The Misfits were supposed to release a studio version of SFDF back in the late 90s... but this one is fantastic, worth the wait.

Yeah if I were a Polyphonic Spree fan I am sure I'd love the cd. But I'm not. I did like the Peru Cast, but I also really enjoyed the 2009 Mexican Cast. I am still looking for an actual copy of the CD but I have had the mp3s for a while and really enjoy it. I have pretty strange taste in cast recordings though. I loved the New Australian Cast and when I read what other fans have written about it, it seems like I may be the only one. To be honest I really enjoy when they change up the arrangements and do something a little different.

I havent heard the 09 mexican yet. Is it on this site and I missed it? Id love to find a copy. I adore the 76 mexican. ITs a fantastic mix of the roxy arrangements with the trashiness of the Orginal london.

I was refering to the 2010 Icelandic, which wasn't quite as fun as the '91 but still very good. (I'd rate them '91 at the top, '95 at the bottom, for the record).
Ooh, thanks for that link schweppie, can't wait to hear this one!

You're welcome! Glad to share. I do enjoy all of the Icelandic recordings myself. But yes, I think my preference is the 95, 2010, then the 91. I really enjoy that completely odd version of Hot Potootie.

I think all their Hot Patooties are odd :D
I'm playing the '09 Mexican right now and loving it. It sounds partly '01 Broadway but still somewhat original. Heavy, sexy, energetic, great voices, hot band. Hearing it makes me want it on CD even more. You'd think the modern cast albums would be easier to track down on CD. The label has a site but... *shrug*

I've gone back and forth on this over the years. It was the first Rocky cast I bought as a new release and Aus was Rocky-mad at that time. Being trendy has really dated it though. Have you seen this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=uymBoCuAFtU
Wish it was complete :(

Haha yes I would have to agree, all those Hot Patooties are odd! I thought the New Mexican cast had a bit of the Broadway feel to it also. That is another show that a lot of people hated and I loved. I think it makes such a difference when you see a show though, and in real life. The bootlegs don't do that show justice. There aren't too many casts I don't like (I mean other than the Christopher Emery Studio recordings). I can usually find something to like in a cast.

And I love that Time Warp clip. I really like their set. I think that is a interesting idea, but as you said it all looks a bit dated. Has sort of a bad 80s porno look. The spinning castle itself is an interesting idea though.
