Discovering My Brother's Last Battle

I don't know why my images have turned to the tragic side of life. Maybe because there's so much that has gone wrong in the world, that it's difficult to completely ignore. Historical tragedies that seem to have an impact to this day can be very interesting. Especially when you can imagine the events in a first person way. The mood of the times is more keenly felt, and easier to convey when imagined in this way. I suppose actors and writers do the very same thing in their specialized fields. I think the main trigger for this image was listening to an audio book, Shelby Foote reading The Beleaguered City, about the civil war battles at Vicksburg. Pencil sketch - unedited.
