When I was a teenager, my parents drug me all over the western states to hike around. At that time I wasn't the least bit interested. There was one trip in particular that stuck in my mind, and that was a camping trip on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. After that trails down into minor gorges weren't that big of a deal. Remembering one of these "minor gorges" brought this image to mind. Unedited pencil sketch. January 2000.
