I have no idea why when I draw Frank, the images that turn out the best are very warped and often frightening. Once again this drawing didn't necessarily begin with the intention of drawing Frank. A generic figure with multiple fanned out arms came to mind. Then I remembered Ray Harryhausen's "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" and the dancing Shiva that was guarding one of the treasures. From what I can remember of this type of god/mythical creature, I think they were all depicted as very dangerous, scantily dressed, graceful, exotic females. That was it, Frank would be perfect with all of his power over the people around him, his many unpredictable moods, and how his followers nearly worshiped him... I couldn't pass up trying this image out. Finally with the freakish "god-like" image, it seemed natural that "offerings" had to be left at his feet (Frederick's of Hollywood catalog, After Dark magazine, bra, test tubes, bottle of Absinthe, syringe of unknown drug, a daisy, Viagra pills, KY Jelly, wine bottle, Eddie's teddy, lipstick, 4711 cologne, roses, and a Steve Reeves movie collection). It was the perfect picture of decadence and totally FRANK! Pencil sketch October 20, 2001.
