WARNING: Use of these images without written permission is strictly prohibited. 17th century styles (music, fashions, architecture, etc.) have always been attractive to me. While listening to some of that period's music, specifically Mozart, I imagined this genius conducting in a small/intimate theater. Then I remembered Peter Schaffer's Amadeus when he was at a low point in his career, literally forced to write for small, unknown acting troupes. Hence the lack of elaborate brocade fabrics, expensive adornments, and white powdered custom wigs that he wore in service of Royalty. Unedited pencil sketch, November 1, 1999. |
