Feeling an Abstract Draft

Feeling an Abstract Draft

Knowing that David Hockney is a hero of sorts in my eyes, it's not surprising that I've imagined myself as an apprentice of his. I had started out only wanting to draw a figure resembling Mr. Hockney from the perspective of an apprentice peering under his arm from behind to see what "the master" was creating. Having several photos of David leaning over large work tables made it easier to visualize. Even after creating the abstract image on the table, the piece was missing something to make it unique... or what I call my "odd element." This ended up being the hand appearing to "draw" the scene in front of us. January 28, 1999.
