The questionable signature

We had been told this was a "presentation copy" of this book. I look at the handwriting and the abbreviated signature and wonder. It has been suggested that this was carefully/neatly signed by Jerome himself, or his agent Mrs. Marbury. But nonetheless, this tight script is certainly not the typical hand of Jerome, which is usually very loose and casual with heavy slanting to the right and lacks the heavy embellishments found on this example.

If anyone else has pieces that are marked like this, I would be interested in seeing scans/images of them.
