His Life and Times (1859 - 1927) (Biographical Info.)

In the Beginning:
Jerome K. Jerome was born May 2nd, 1859, in Walsall, Staffordshire, England. His father was a coal mine owner, and his mother a respected heiress who financed those mines with her family's money.
Education:
Mr. Jerome believes a well stocked library and an inquisitive mind are the primary ingredients for an excellent and more than acceptable education. To punctuate this, he goes as far as giving the British Museum's Reading Room high credit for his own personal education!

He's such a Dickens!
Many authors of Jerome's biographies and followers (fans per se) of his works agree that Jerome seemed to be idolizing Mr. Charles Dickens. Some have even gone as far as saying that "J" wanted to become Dickens in all facets of his life. In many ways, he succeeded . . . But that's all loose speculation, and neither here nor there.
Friends & Relations:
Amazingly enough for an aspiring actor, Jerome was shy as a young man. After his mother passed away, his shyness grew, and true friends were hard to come by. It wasn't until he published his first book, that brought him first taste of what fame might be like, that he shed his reluctance to meet new people and acquire friends.

Partner for Life & Beyond:
Georgina (known as "Ettie") was wed to Jerome in 1888. She had a single daughter from a prior marriage, and bore Jerome another daughter of his own. Interestingly enough and very out of fashion for the times, her first marriage was only dissolved for a mere nine days before she married Jerome. "Ettie" remained loyal to Jerome, even after his death in 1927, and up until her own demise in 1938, at age 78.
